The first phase of this multi-year program is concerned with long-duration storage technologies.  Ultracapacitors have a supporting role in this sector, as a component of hybrid storage systems  

Ultracapacitors are amongst the most important of the emerging storage technologies, and will represent the starting point of the second phase of our program, concerned more with high power:energy ratio applications (typified by applications requiring bursts of power of relatively short duration - from milliseconds to minutes).
